Washed, then
drawn back out.

Hot-water extraction with the cleaner’s own equipment and an upholstery tool: hot water and cleaning solution go into the fabric and are vacuumed straight back out.

  • Fabric 2-, 3- and 4-seater sofas, couches and lounges, with seat and back cushions included
  • An extra chaise or modular seat beyond the sofa size
  • Loose cushions up to 60 × 60 cm, both sides
  • Suitable areas pre-treated, then cleaned and extracted with the cleaner's own equipment

Outside this service

Leather and dry-clean-only fabrics, heavy furniture moving, repairs, and deodoriser, sanitiser or stain-protection packages.

Carpets in the same visit

Add carpeted bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and stairs to the same booking. Carpet cleaning shares the one $150 minimum.

Care labels come first

Checked first,
then cleaned.

  1. Your cleaner reads the care label and checks the fabric's suitability before any wet cleaning, testing a hidden spot first.

  2. Leather and dry-clean-only fabrics are outside this service.

  3. Tell us about stains, spills, pet accidents and products already tried before the visit. Some stains, damage and odours are permanent, so removal cannot be guaranteed.

The fabric comes before the method. Some fabrics need a different specialist service.

Simply Maid checks suitability before hot-water extraction. Leather and dry-clean-only fabrics are outside this service; permanent stains, odours or damage may remain.

What does couch cleaning cost in Australia?

Per seat looks cheap.
Check the minimum.

Most couch cleaners price per seat, usually $35–$40 a seat for fabric, with a second group at about $55. We read their rate cards in seven cities on 12 October 2026: operators' 3-seater prices, or a per-seat price multiplied by three, ran $105–$220. Our 3-seater is $180, which works out at $60 a seat: above every operator's price in 5 of the 7 cities and at or near the top in the rest. The per-seat price is only half the story: many of those operators also set a minimum of $80–$135, so one small couch often costs the minimum, not the seat price. Ours is a $150 minimum, applied once to the whole booking. A 2-seater on its own costs $150 with us (the minimum); from a $37-a-seat operator with a $135 minimum it is $135.

Advertised prices before any minimum, not quotes for the same couch: fabric, size, method, add-ons and GST differ, so we do not average them or rank providers. Marketplaces, cost guides and limited-time offers are left out of the ranges. Every provider, item and condition is in the couch and upholstery cleaning price guide.

Steam or dry couch cleaning?

The label
decides.

We clean fabric couches by hot-water extraction only, the method most people mean by steam cleaning. It suits fabrics whose care label allows wet cleaning. Some fabrics are labelled for dry or solvent cleaning only; those need a specialist, and your cleaner will not wet clean them. Where providers offer both, dry cleaning is usually priced higher: one national brand lists $55 a seat dry against $37 a seat for extraction.

Leather couches are outside this service, whatever the method.

Pet hair, stains and smells

Tell us first,
so we can look.

Mention pet accidents, food or drink spills, ink, makeup or anything you have already tried when you book. The cleaner pre-treats suitable areas and extracts them, but some stains, damage and odours are permanent, so removal cannot be guaranteed. We don’t sell deodoriser, sanitiser or stain-protection packages.

For the days in between, our guides cover removing pet hair from a couch and getting stains out of a couch.

How do I compare couch cleaning quotes?

Same couch,
final total.

  1. The total for your couch, not the per-seat starting price: ask how many seats they count, and whether a chaise, modular corner or loose cushions are extra.

  2. The minimum charge, and whether one 2- or 3-seater on its own reaches it.

  3. Whether GST is included. Many pages do not say.

  4. What is extra: stain protection, deodorising, sanitising, pet urine treatment, access or parking.

  5. The method: hot-water extraction or dry cleaning, and whether your fabric's care label allows it.

  6. What happens if a stain remains, and the re-clean or refund terms in writing.

Before and after the visit

Clear it,
then air it.

Before

  1. Take throws, blankets and loose covers off, and clear the area around the couch so the cleaner can reach every side.

  2. Tell us in booking about stains, spills, pet accidents and anything you have already tried on them.

  3. Leave the care label where the cleaner can find it (usually under a seat cushion or on the base).

  4. In an apartment, add the floor, lift and parking details so the machine can come up.

After

  1. Open windows or run a fan, and keep children and pets off the fabric until it is dry to the touch.

  2. Put cushions back once they are dry; follow the drying advice your cleaner gives on the day.

Questions about sofa and couch cleaning

A few things
you might be wondering.

01How much does sofa cleaning cost?
A 2-seater sofa is $120, a 3-seater $180 and a 4-seater $240, GST included, before the booking fee. An extra chaise or modular seat is $60 and a loose cushion $15. The $150 minimum applies once to the whole booking.
02How much does it cost to clean a lounge suite?
A 3-seater with two armchairs (a 3-1-1 lounge suite) is $180 for the sofa plus $60 for each armchair, GST included, before the booking fee, which clears the $150 minimum. Armchairs are on the upholstery cleaning page and go in the same booking.
03Are the seat and back cushions included?
Yes. Seat and back cushions are included with the sofa. Loose scatter cushions are priced separately.
04Can you clean a leather sofa?
No. Leather and dry-clean-only fabrics are outside this service. Your cleaner checks the care label and suitability before wet cleaning.
05Are you cheaper than other couch cleaners?
Usually not per seat. Most couch cleaners we checked advertise $35–$40 a fabric seat, against our $180 3-seater, but many also set a minimum of $80–$135, and stain protection, deodorising or pet treatment often cost extra. Compare the final written total for the same couch.
06Do you dry clean couches?
No. We clean by hot-water extraction only. A couch whose care label says dry or solvent clean only needs a specialist, and your cleaner will not wet clean it.
07Is it really steam?
“Steam cleaning” is the everyday name for hot-water extraction: hot water and cleaning solution go into the fabric and are vacuumed straight back out, with an upholstery tool on furniture and mattresses. It is not a steam mop.
08Will every stain come out?
Some stains, damage and odours are permanent, so removal cannot be guaranteed. Tell us about problem areas before the visit so the cleaner can assess them.
09How long does it take to dry?
Drying depends on the fabric, ventilation and conditions on the day. Your cleaner gives drying and aftercare advice before leaving.
10Can I book it with carpet cleaning?
Yes. Furniture is booked as part of carpet steam cleaning, on its own or with carpeted rooms, in the same visit. One $150 minimum applies across everything in the booking, so adding furniture to a carpet clean usually costs less than booking it alone.
11Are your cleaners insured?
Yes. Every cleaner is identity-verified before their first clean, and our service terms describe up to $10 million in public liability insurance through Chubb Insurance Australia. If something is damaged, send us a photo and a reasonable estimate within 48 hours and it goes through our damage and insurance process.
